Berlin Conference 2023: Am 8. und 9. November im Allianz Forum

Resilient Futures: Aufbau eines nachhaltigen Europas. Die Stiftung Zukunft Berlin und die zivilgesellschaftlichen Initiativen “A Soul for Europe“ und „Wir sind Europa“ veranstalten erneut die Berlin Conference 2023 am 8. und 9. November im Allianz Forum Berlin, direkt am Brandenburger Tor.

Projekt und Konferenz Partner:

Die Auswirkungen der Pandemie, wirtschaftlicher Fragilität, autokratischer Regime, politischer Korruption und der Klimakrise bestimmen mehr denn je den internationalen Diskurs. Die Bemühungen um einen globalen Wandel sind in vollem Gange, erfordern jedoch einen transdisziplinären Ansatz, um Fortschritte zu erzielen. Zu diesem für Europa wichtigen Zeitpunkt stellt die Berliner Konferenz 2023 die Fragen: Was ist die Rolle und die Verantwortung von Europa? Was können wir als Bürgerinnen und Bürger tun, um ein Bewusstsein für diese bedeutenden Themen zu schaffen und sie zu beeinflussen? Wir sind der festen Überzeugung, dass Europa, mehr noch als durch Regierungen und Verträge, durch den lebendigen Austausch in den Städten geprägt wird. Und wir glauben auch, dass es dieser kulturelle Vorraum ist, der die Chance und Möglichkeit bietet, die Zukunft Europas immer wieder neu und nachhaltig gemeinsam zu gestalten.

Die Berlin Conference 2023 steht daher unter dem Motto: „Resilient Futures: Aufbau eines nachhaltigen Europas”. Personen mit unterschiedlichem Hintergrund und aus verschiedenen Bereichen werden die Möglichkeit haben, ihre Erkenntnisse für den Aufbau eines nachhaltigen Europas zu präsentieren und auszutauschen, das von Zusammenarbeit, Vielfalt und einem gemeinsamen Engagement für eine widerstandsfähige Zukunft lebt. Indem sie mit Entscheidungsträger:innen erörtert und von der lokalen auf die europäische Ebene übertragen werden, können die Ergebnisse der Konferenz die europäische Agenda 2024 nachhaltig prägen.

18:00	Pitch Präsentation Am 9. November werden die drei Säulen in sechs verschiedenen Arbeitsgruppen mit jeweils einer/einem Expert:in pro Gruppe bearbeitet. Die Pitch Präsentationen informieren die Teilnehmenden über das Thema der jeweiligen Arbeitsgruppe:   Democracy and its communities: “Urbanität und Kultur. Eine Stadt ist kein Land” mit Eric Corijn (Zoologe, Kulturphilosoph, Soziologe und Autor, Belgien) “KI und die Zukunft der Europäischen Kultur” mit Haris Pašović (Theaterregisseur, Bosnien)   Sustainability as a holistic model: “Doughnut Economy Rehab”: Wie können wir unsere Sucht nach wirtschaftlichem Wachstum überwinden und lernen, die Bedürfnisse aller Menschen im Rahmen der Möglichkeiten unseres Planeten zu erfüllen? mit Marieke van Doorninck (Direktorin von Kennisland, ehemalige stellvertretende Bürgermeisterin für Stadtplanung und Nachhaltigkeit der Stadt Amsterdam, Niederlande)  „Wie können wir eine gerechte, grüne Zukunft erreichen und gleichzeitig die Rechtsextremen besiegen? „Europa-Rede“ in Zusammenarbeit mit der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung

Am Abend des 9. Novembers findet die traditionelle „Europa-Rede“ in Zusammenarbeit mit der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung statt, die in diesem Jahr von der Präsidentin des Europäischen Parlaments, Roberta Metsola, im Allianz Forum gehalten wird, gefolgt von Präsentationen junger Menschen, die Lösungen für unsere aktuellen globalen Herausforderungen vorschlagen.

Berlin Conference 2023: On November 8 and 9 at the Allianz Forum

Resilient Futures: Building a Sustainable Europe. Stiftung Zukunft Berlin and the civil society initiatives “A Soul for Europe” and “Wir sind Europa”, as in tradition since 2004, are hosting the annual Berlin Conference on the 8 and 9 November at Allianz Forum Berlin, right next to the Brandenburg Gate.

Project and conference partners:

The impacts of pandemic, economic fragility, autocratic regimes, political corruption, and the climate crisis determine more than ever the international discourse. At this important moment for Europe, the Berlin Conference 2023 asks: What is the role and responsibility of Europe? What can we as civil society do to gain and create awareness and impact on these important topics? What are some effective strategies for incorporating cultural values and practices into sustainable policies? How can we effectively join forces between citizens and create bridges with politics? We deeply believe that Europe is made, even more than by governments and treaties, by the lively and curious urban exchange from the cities. And equally, we believe that it is this cultural space that gives the opportunity and possibility to sustainably build Europe’s future together, over, and again.

The Berlin Conference 2023 therefore presents the theme of Resilient Futures: Building a Sustainable Europe. Individuals from diverse backgrounds and fields will have the chance to present and exchange insights for building a sustainable Europe that thrives on collaboration, diversity, and a shared commitment to a resilient future. By discussing them with decision-makers and carrying them from the local to the European level, the outcomes of the conference can have a lasting effect in shaping the European agenda in 2024.

„Europe Speech“ in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation

On the evening of November 9, the traditional „Europe Speech“ will take place in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, this year delivered by the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, at the Allianz Forum, followed by presentations by young people proposing solutions to our current global challenges.
